Wall art home decor

Buying a painting or some artwork to fill the empty space behind your soft or bed can be expensive. I am going to show you how to convert an affordable plywood into your own wall art using wodoc stain and wax on plywood.

Wall art, even small pieces, can be expensive. Here on Home Décor we offer a lot of ideas and inspiration for creating your own wall art on a budget, and this option is no exception. All you need is some cut 10mm plywood, Woodoc gel stain and antique wax, and a Dremel MultiTool - all these items you will find easily at your local Builders Warehouse.

So, lets start:

1) Have the 10mm plywood cut to size at your local Builders Warehouse. You can vary the size of the boards depending on the space available.

2) Lightly sand the surface of the board with sandpaper to remove any splinters before staining with Woodoc Gel Stain in your choice of colour of wood tint. Use a rag or sponge to apply and work with the direction of the wood grain for an even finish.

3) You will need a support for drawing the circles - any circular item will do. You can use tins, lids or other items you already have in the home. Draw around the template to layout your design. When using pencil you can always erase this and start again if you are not happy with the design.

4) Get comfortable and use a gentle stroke to remove a thin layer of wood from the circle shapes. You can outline the shape beforehand if you wish.

5) After finishing the entire design, apply a layer of Woodoc antique wax to give the finish surface a subtle sheen and protect your new work of art.

Outdoor garden swings

Outdoor swings are perfect for summer. They are fun and dreamy and can add a décor element to your yard or garden. You can buy swings or build swings that will perfectly fit your budget or garden style.
There are a few ideas to create your own swing with very less to no effort or funds. If you want a simple swing you will only need a wide wooden plank, a drill and a piece of rope. Drill a hole at each corner of the plank and fix it with the rope to a tree or any structure that would allow it. You can use a pallet instead of plank or go with a legless chair or an old tire.

If you want something more spacious where you can really stretch your legs and relax think making a swing bed but be sure that you have a really good and sturdy structure to hang it on because a bed can be quite heavy and swinging it might fall down together with the flimsy construction.

The swing bench or bed can be made of old bed frame. If bench will suffice you can just add a back made out of an old door. For the bed you’ll need a mattress, which will add weight to your swing and some throw pillows for comfort and décor value.

To decorate your swing upholster it with colorful fabric or fill it with accent pillows. To disguise the unflattering chain or rope wrap it with a nice fabric or faux vines. You can also give your swing a fresh coat of bright paint.

These were a few ideas to décor your home garden or outdoor space. These are perfect for summers to give your home a new look. I hope you enjoyed these and might want to try a few.
